What's the difference between a child prodigy turned internationally acclaimed virtuoso, and a busker at L'Enfant Metro Station? Apparently nothing on one morning in January. Check out this news article to read the story.

Check out this old news article which someone sent me. Very funny!
Caption: "Scientists from the RAND Corporation have created this model to illustrate how a "home computer" could look like in the year 2004. However the needed technology will not be economically feasible for the average home. Also the scientists readily admit that the computer will require not yet invented technology to actually work, but 50 years from now scientific progress is expected to solve these problems. With teletype interface and the Fortran language, the computer will be easy to use and only..." [rest of the caption is cut off so I don't know what it says]
Update: Apparently this is fake. Still a funny idea though.

Do you ever find yourself needing to know the ISO codes for languages and country names? I do, and I keep forgetting where I found the lists the last time I needed them. So, in addition to bookmarking the pages (which I should have done before anyway), I'm posting them here too.

Remember the email that was circulating the internet a little while ago about kitties and their music? Well here are some more Record Store Cats! These kitties are great.

Peter sent me a link to Lemmings online. I know many people got really obsessed by this game (Peter included), but I never did. I think I was too distracted by Tetris, Minesweeper, Lode Runner and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Check out this list from PC World of the 50 Best Tech Products of All Time. Interesting. And here's the reader's choice list of Best Tech products which didn't make the list.

I just read that Graeme Base's Animalia is being made into a TV series! This is very exciting.
I also learned that Sign of the Seahorse was was adapted as an opera with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2001.

Over at the speecubing discussion group someone posted a link to the documentary The Boy with the Incredible Brain. Interesting stuff. We'd all love to see what he could do with a Rubik's cube. Maybe he could become the first person in the world to learn all 1211 LL states??

I haven't cubed much since my last competition almost 6 months ago (UK Open in November 2006). I did a session this morning and the lack of practice is certainly showing. :(
When I've been solving regularly, my average is 28.xx seconds, but this morning it took me 60 solves before I got a sub-28s rolling average!! Argh! When it eventually came, it was nice a 27.40s average, but geez it took a lot of solves.
