Interesting blog. I've been using your excellent beginner solving method, hopefully from there I can graduate to Fridrich. Before this I used the method that comes with the cube. :D Today I took the time to figure out how to orient the corners from all of the possible states in less than three moves.

I wonder what would cause such a sudden interest in the Rubik's cube that everyone would suddenly search for it...

Nah, Rubik's Cube is awesome! How could it not be popular? People at my school are getting into the craze, and I hear a club is coming in a few days.

BTW, thanks for the site and the tips on cubing! The LL info is especially helpful.

Re the sudden increase in searches for the cube... I suspect it may have something to do with Will Smith's latest movie, The Pursuit of Happyness. In that movie, Will's character solves a Rubik's Cube in one scene.

I agree. That movie has probably kindled some new interest in the cube , and perhaps has introduced more people to speedcubing, but it's incredibly annoying when people are constantly comparing me to Will Smith.
