New eBook

I bought a new ebook the other day - The Rule of Four. Why this book? Well, it was pretty much the advertising. I read a pull quote on a poster which said something along the lines of "... if you liked The Da Vinci Code, you'll love this! ..." and then I saw the novel on sale in an ebook newsletter.

I've been reading it on the train and I'm now a couple of chapters in. I have to say that it isn't really grabbing me yet. I shall keep reading though because I'm expecting that it will get more interesting.

"Mixed" vegetables

The other week Peter and I were at a restaurant with a friend. One of the dishes we ordered was mixed vegetables. What we got, to my surprise, was a plate of broccoli. Fortunately I quite like broccoli, but this doesn't make it okay to pass off a plate of broccoli as "mixed" vegetables!

Note: "Mixed", when used as an adjective, means "combining characteristics of more than one kind" or "made up of or involving individuals or items of more than one kind" (source Merriam-Webster Online).

Virgin Atlantic Frequent Paws

Virgin Atlantic have announced a new frequent flyer scheme for cats (and other animals too). On the first flight Miss Kitty will receive a toy mouse. Once Miss Kitty has flown enough to rack up 5 paw prints (not sure how much flying this requires), Miss Kitty will be be eligible for things such as handmade food bowls. And with further flights Miss Kitty will be able to choose from a selection of Prada and Gucci pet clothing.

If Miss Kitty is feeling generous, she may instead donate her bonuses to her person who can take them as frequent flyer points.

I would like to use my Frequent Paw points to acquire some Prada and Gucci clothing
