I think I shall start just replacing a few at a time, and doing this more regularly, then it will never seem as much of a chore.

I bought a spare 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 at the Dutch Cube Day last weekend. I don't have any more spare Cubesmith stickers for the larger cubes, so I shall have to make a purchase soon!Jasminehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03101225465908877393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034848.post-1161107203316247542006-10-17T13:46:00.000-04:002006-10-17T13:46:00.000-04:00Hi Peter. I already knew how to solve the 3x3x3 and the 4x4x4, and you don't need to know anything extra to be able to solve a 5x5x5. If you want to solve it really fast then you'd want to learn additional tricks and algorithms, but if you just want to solve it, then you just use your 3x3x3 and 4x4x4 knowledge/algorithms.Jasminehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03101225465908877393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034848.post-1160589718351613792006-10-11T14:01:00.000-04:002006-10-11T14:01:00.000-04:00Re-stickering should not be something dreadful. I ...Re-stickering should not be something dreadful. I think of it as an induction ritual, bringing a new cube into the family. The more you resticker, the faster and more accurate you will become.

I keep seven 4x4s and five 5x5s maintained. The way I go about it is use all Cubesmith stickers and resticker the ones that are chiped at the end of every week. That way I only replace a few every week and theey stay sharp.

The inital restickering can be a bit time-consuming, sure. But the feel of a freshly stickered cube is well worth it for me. I try my best to remove the gunk underneth old stickers too before putting a new one on. Doing one face/color at a time seems to make it a little less stressful I guess.

In some ways the 5x5 can be easier to resticker than the 4x4. A little offset will be more obvious on the 4x4 I think. Or perhaps they take about the same amount of time for me.

Lubricating those big cubes can be a hassle though, because I dissassemble first.

-DougAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
